About CraftEd Carpentry
CraftEd Carpentry was created from a simple idea: children learn best when they use their hands, their curiosity and their creativity together.
As a father of two, I see first-hand how important it is for children to have opportunities to build, explore and solve real problems—not just on screens, but in the real world. Hands-on learning helps children develop confidence, patience and practical thinking skills that stay with them for life.
Through CraftEd Carpentry, students are introduced to the fundamentals of designing and making with wood in a safe, structured environment. Our workshops combine creativity with practical learning, helping students develop skills in planning, measuring, problem-solving and teamwork.
These experiences naturally support STEM learning. When children build something themselves, they are applying science, technology, engineering and mathematics in meaningful ways—understanding how structures work, how measurements matter and how ideas turn into real objects.
At the same time, there is a growing concern across many industries: fewer young people are discovering the value and satisfaction of practical trades. Skilled trades play a vital role in our communities, yet fewer students are being exposed to these pathways during their early education.
CraftEd Carpentry aims to help change that.
By introducing carpentry and practical making at a young age, we hope to inspire curiosity about how things are built, encourage creative problem-solving and show children the pride that comes from making something with their own hands.
Not every child who attends a workshop will become a carpenter—and that isn’t the goal. The goal is to give children the opportunity to experience hands-on learning, develop confidence with tools and materials and discover the satisfaction of creating something real.
Because when children build, they learn.
And sometimes, they discover a passion that can shape their future.
